About DS Family Farm

head_shot_2016

We want to see you and your family Healthy!

Healthy soils grow healthy plants that feed healthy animals resulting in healthy food for you.  Healthy food is our goal.  A side benefit to this process is a flavor unique to our farm.  Eating beef and chicken raised on our farm will result in an eating experience and taste unlike anything you have tried before.

Our farm was featured in Holistic Management International (HMI)In Practice Newsletter January / February 2023 (page 11).

If you are familiar with Lincoln, Nebraska, we are just 14 miles west of downtown on US Highway 34. For a general reference, our farm is on the western edge of the Central tall grasslands, referred to as the “sweet spot” for raising pasture grazed beef.

Doug is from Lincoln Nebraska and Sheila grew up on a farm near Malcolm Nebraska.  Doug attended UN-L majoring in Natural Resources and Ag Education.  Doug retired from USDA/NRCS after 36 years in the fall of 2021 to focus on our grass based farm.  Sheila works part-time as the Financial Secretary at our Church.  We enjoy country dancing and for a short time taught country dance.

Our son Nathan is married to Kim and works at Camp-A-Way.  Son Jacob is married to Abby and a pastor at Centennial and Saint John Lutheran Church (Superior and Chester, Nebraska).

You can contact us via our contact page.

16 Let Your work appear to Your servants,
And Your glory to their children.
17 And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us,
And establish the work of our hands for us;
Yes, establish the work of our hands.      –     NKJV Psalms 90:16-17

Disclaimers

This is our family’s blog. The main focus is pasture-grazed meat proteins (beef, chicken, lamb, pork).  Our mission is to help others learn to heal our land, communities, and ourselves.  Therefore, we write on livestock, grazing, pasture health, traditional, and natural foods. Since this is our personal blog related to our Farm, the views and comments are our own.  We do our best to list the sources from which we learn and to relate them to you through our posts.  We typically post two times a month, one blog post and one Farm Update (subscribe to newsletter Farm Updates using the form on our home page). None of our posts or photos are solely AI-generated.
